Good news heading into 2025:
Good news: I have been selected to continue leading the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee for the Democrats in Congress!
It is an honor to continue serving as Ranking Member of the T&I Committee.
This Committee is the largest in Congress by membership, and has broad jurisdiction over the U.S. Department of Transportation (think our nation's highways, public transit, railroads, airports, pipelines, and seaports) as well as important groups like the U.S. Coast Guard, the Army Corps of Engineers, Amtrak, the EPA, FEMA, and more.
I have served on the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee since arriving in the House in 2001, and I am eager to continue this work in the next Congress. I will continue to focus on passing bipartisan legislation that will keep people and the economy moving while creating safer, cleaner, greener, and more accessible transportation.
Some key areas of focus have been and will remain:
- Helping Washingtonians and Americans across the country capitalize on the once-in-a-generation investments included in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Billions of dollars in reinvestments in our infrastructure have created jobs and made our communities safer.
- Innovations to enable our communities to grow and thrive for generations to come, including: bike and pedestrian infrastructure, broadband internet, electric vehicle chargers, and more climate-resilient structures.
- Improvements to passenger and freight rail, and stronger pipeline safety standards.
- Building climate resiliency so we can better recover from natural disasters and protect our resources.
Happy holidays, and cheers to more bipartisan laws that create good-paying jobs and improve America's infrastructure.
More soon,
Rick
