Do not wait – the PACT Act deadline is almost here
The VA has extended the deadline to file a claim for backdated PACT benefits to 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, August 14, 2023.
Please know that this deadline only applies to claims backdated to August 10, 2022.
If you are not backdating your claim, then there is no deadline to file for PACT benefits.
For more information, please visit the VA website.
There is less than a week left to file for benefits under the PACT Act, the largest expansion of VA benefits in history for veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, Gulf War toxins, and radiation.
The full title of this legislation honors the memory of Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson, of the Ohio Army National Guard. He died of lung cancer at just 39, an illness believed to be caused by his exposure to burn pits during his deployment to the Middle East.
Now, this overdue and necessary legislation will improve the care and benefits our veterans receive by:
- Expanding and extending eligibility for VA health care for veterans with toxic exposures and veterans of the Vietnam, Gulf War, and post-9/11 eras;
- Adding 20+ more presumptive conditions for burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic exposures;
- Including more presumptive-exposure locations for Agent Orange and radiation;
- Requiring the VA to provide a toxic exposure screening to every veteran enrolled in VA health care; and
- Improving research, staff education, and treatment related to toxic exposures.
Does this apply to you or a loved one? If so, please claim your benefits and share this information with friends and family. Time is limited and I want to make sure every veteran has the information they need to learn more and file a claim. Get more information and file for benefits here: http://VA.gov/pact
Benefits received may be backdated to August 10, 2022, so file your claim as soon as possible before the upcoming August 9, 2023 deadline.
With gratitude for your service,
Rick
