Tomorrow!
Tomorrow, I will vote for the Inflation Reduction Act and send it to President Biden for his signature. This bill will be a significant investment in our efforts to combat climate change, make health care more affordable, reduce the cost of living, and shrink the deficit.
These climate investments are what I am most excited about:
- $369 billion to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030, a huge step toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
- Money to restore and preserve coastal habitats around Puget Sound and other coastlines.
- Investments in electric postal service vehicles.
- Funds to reduce air pollution in Washington ports.
In addition, under the Inflation Reduction Act:
- Medicare will be allowed to negotiate prescription drug prices.
- Starting in 2025, out-of-pocket costs for prescription drugs will be capped at $2000 per year (and insulin at $35/month) for * seniors on Medicare.
- A minimum tax of 15% for billion-dollar corporations to ensure they pay their fair share
- $300 billion in deficit reduction.
This is what Democrats do — deliver for the American people.
We do not bury our heads in the sand and hope that problems will disappear on their own. Instead, we get to work and find solutions.
Whether you are a senior making the painful choice between food or prescriptions, or a working parent alarmed at what you are paying at the pump, the Inflation Reduction Act will lower your cost of living. Medicare will be newly empowered to negotiate prescription drug prices, and drug costs will be capped at $2000 a month for seniors on Medicare. Households are expected to see a drop in home heating prices and costs for all sorts of goods will drop as the price of oil comes down.
There is still much work to be done. Workers still need a raise, and we can do even more to combat climate change. If the MAGA Republicans take over Congress, then we can kiss all this progress goodbye.
That is why I am going all in this election to build a grassroots campaign and keep our momentum going. Chip in $14 now and join Team Larsen now.
