Sign the petition: We must investigate January 6th

On January 6th, a violent mob breached the security perimeter of the U.S. Capitol, stormed the building, and attempted to stop the peaceful transfer of power in our democracy.

We must never forget what happened on January 6, 2021.

Millions of Americans, and more around the world, watched it unfold on live television. And yet, it is fair to say that we do not yet have a comprehensive understanding of how it happened — who organized it and funded it (if anyone) and why there were such catastrophic security failures.

We need a bipartisan panel to review the causes and consequences of January 6th and to make recommendations to ensure such a breach never happens again.

Will you join me by signing a petition demanding a bipartisan panel to investigate the events of January 6th?

This should not even be a debate. But sadly, just 35 Republicans joined the Democrats in the House in voting to approve the panel. And now, Senator Mitch McConnell says he will oppose the bipartisan investigation.

Apparently, Mitch McConnell has changed his mind. This is what he said on February 13th on the Senate floor:

"There's no question — none — that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day. No question about it. The people who stormed this building believed they were acting on the wishes and instructions of their president. The leader of the free world cannot spend weeks thundering that shadowy forces are stealing our country and then feign surprise when people believe him and do reckless things."

I agree with that Mitch McConnell. But now, he has changed his tune.

Please sign our petition and demand that Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans find the courage to go beyond empty words of blame and investigate who encouraged it, who organized it, and who funded it (if anyone). And what we can do to make sure it never happens again.
