Our lands, water and wildlife
The Pacific Northwest is known for its natural beauty. Our parks, trails, lakes, rivers, forests and beaches are worth protecting for current and future generations. That is why I am committed to standing up for clean air and water and fighting climate change.
Climate change is real and man-made. We need to take immediate action to address the devastating effects of climate change and protect our environment.
Some of my work here at home and in Congress:
-
I support the Climate Action Now Act to get the U.S. back into the Paris Agreement and the 100% Clean Economy Act, which calls for a net-zero pollution economy by 2050 and works to improve public health and create clean jobs.
-
I helped draft and pass the Moving Forward Act, which boosts funding for low and zero-emission buses and ferries.
-
I helped pass the America's Water Infrastructure Act and championed a significant increase in funding for a Puget Sound restoration program.
-
I secured $35 million for a new NOAA Mukilteo Research Station to lead water quality and ocean acidification research.
-
I have advocated for funding for the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund, which supports salmon and steelhead recovery in the Pacific Northwest.
-
I worked with my colleague Rep. Kim Schrier to include a provision in a water resources bill that boosts funding for habitat restoration and to help recover endangered salmon and steelhead in the Pacific Northwest.
-
I voted for the Great American Outdoors Act to permanently and fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund and help address the maintenance backlog at national parks and public lands.
It is my priority to address climate change and ensure the U.S. transitions to clean, renewable energy and environmental sustainability, creating good-paying jobs.
I hope I can count on your support in this fight. Our communities are depending on us to tackle climate change and protect our lands, water and wildlife.
