An economy that works for all
It is my top priority to build an economy that works for everyone. I will always fight to bring working families in Northwest Washington better jobs and higher wages.
Here is a snapshot of my work in Congress:
-
Investing in infrastructure: I am fighting for an infrastructure investment-led recovery. Robust federal investment in Washington state's transportation and infrastructure means jobs and is key to economic recovery. I helped pass the Moving Forward Act, which invests more than $1.5 trillion in our country's transportation and infrastructure over the next five years.
-
Investing in job training and education: Congress must make it easier and more affordable for workers to go back to school and students to get the education they need in high-demand skills. My Youth Access to American Jobs Act would create a pilot program for students to go from high school to community college to an apprenticeship program.
-
Raising the minimum wage: Congress needs to pass a significant increase to the federal minimum wage to support workers and reduce income inequality. I support the Raise the Wage Act to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025.
-
Supporting workers: Having grown up in a union household, I understand that a strong economic foundation for workers requires fair and secure workplaces. I support the PRO Act to protect the right to organize and the ability to fight for better benefits and pay.
I am committed to building a better America where working families know somebody has their back. As our region faces the public health and economic crisis of the pandemic, I will keep fighting for much-needed relief for workers, families, and small businesses.
I have a proven track record of championing working families. When you look at who is fighting for an economy that works for all, look at my work here in the 2nd District.
I hope to earn your support this fall,
Rick
