Meeting this challenging time

Our region has been hit hard by the pandemic. Too many working families and small businesses are struggling as the public health crisis continues to affect our local communities.

I am committed to protecting 2nd District residents' health and economic security. The public health response must lead the economic response.

That is why I voted last week for the updated Heroes Act to support COVID-19 testing, tracing and treatment; restore weekly $600 federal unemployment payments; boost housing assistance; and strengthen the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses and nonprofits.

Now, it is time for the Senate to act. Northwest Washington needs relief now.

I have handed out food to students and families; packed food boxes alongside Washington National Guard troops; met with first responders, essential workers and school administrators; visited small businesses that benefited from federal PPP loans; and held virtual town halls to get information out to people in need.

You have responded to these challenging times with bravery and resilience. I have heard from so many of you who have come together to help our communities get through this pandemic. Thank you. And please know that I have your back here at home and in Congress.

Together we can keep our families and communities safe, and responsibly get people back to work and school. Wear a mask, practice good hygiene and social distance. And when you get your ballot in the coming days and weeks vote for your health.

I hope to earn your support,

Rick
