Equal pay for equal work. It's basic fairness.

While the United States has made progress toward women's equality, there is still more to be done.

Women are not getting an equal share or a full opportunity to participate in the American economy. On average, women in the United States earn significantly less than men doing the exact same job. Women of color experience even greater wage inequality, ranging between 50 – 80 cents on the dollar.

This wage gap exists in all walks of life – professionals with advanced degrees, retail or service industry workers — even our world champion U.S. Women's National Soccer Team.

Call on Congress to guarantee equal pay for equal work.

I will continue to work to expand women's rights, especially when it comes to guaranteeing a woman's ability to make her own health care decisions, ensuring women get equal pay for equal work and pushing for stronger economic opportunity. I hope you will join me today in calling on my colleagues in Congress to guarantee equal pay for equal work.
