threats to national security
At the most basic level, the primary task of a president is to keep Americans safe. But right now, Trump is ignoring the advice of national security experts.
His eagerness to provide his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, with a top-secret security clearance is the latest example. The White House Personnel Office warned the president that Kushner posed a "great security risk" – citing Kushner's personal conduct, business interests, and vulnerability to foreign influence.
Despite compelling evidence, Trump dismissed the advice and ordered a top-secret clearance for Kushner.
