We're able to walk and chew gum at the same time
It's easy to miss the good news coming out of Washington, DC lately. The Mueller Report and Donald Trump's escalating attempts at obstructing justice have been getting a lot of attention – and they should – we have to uphold the rule of law in our country.
Still, as I've often said, Democrats are able to walk and chew gum at the same time. We're pressing forward with holding Donald Trump accountable while also taking crucial steps toward ensuring a future for our nation.
Protecting our wildlife, open lands, and water has always been a top priority for me. That's why I fought to fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund, supported the Cap and Trade, and protected our native species by providing recovery funds for salmon.
Recently, the House voted to block Trump's attempt to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Climate Accord. That marked the first climate change bill to pass either chamber of Congress in more than ten years.
Last month, we secured full funding for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Mukilteo Research Station. It will provide cutting-edge research on the effects of – and our best responses to – climate change in the Pacific Northwest.
We're still making a lot happen. I'm working hard every day to make sure that everything we do, from investigating abuses of power to curbing climate change, protects the freedom and livelihood of Washingtonians.
