".....does not exonerate him."
Here's a tally of results (so far) from Special Counsel Robert Mueller's 22-month long investigation into the Russian interference in our 2016 elections:
- Donald Trump's campaign chairman Paul Manafort sentenced to jail;
- Trump's former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, found guilty of lying to investigators;
- Trump's personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, pled guilty to tax and bank fraud, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress;
- Trump's confidant, Roger Stone, charged with lying to Congress.
In all, a total of
- 199 criminal charges;
- five prison sentences;
- 37 indictments or guilty pleas.
Attorney General William Barr provided a redacted report that, if anything, provides Congress a firm basis to continue investigation of issues of obstruction of justice.
And yet, somehow, the president insists he's in the clear, despite what the report says. Despite how he will not hold Vladimir Putin and Russia accountable for their attacks on our democracy.
The American people deserve leaders who clean up corruption. Who are not intimidated or fooled by brutal dictatorships. Who put America's best interests before their own.
Donald Trump is falling far short of those expectations. The question now is by how far? It's time we know the truth.
