VAWA Update - provisions to protect tribal children and elders

Yesterday, the House voted to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) — this included the adoption of my amendment to close a loophole and protect tribal children and elders from domestic violence.

Regardless of socioeconomic background, race, culture, age, ethnicity, or religion — domestic violence is a pervasive and devastating problem in America.

With the reauthorization and amendments, we want to send a clear message to survivors: if you come forward seeking help and support, it will be available and you will be safe.

More soon,

Rick
