with every challenge, progress

It's been a rocky few months. An unnecessary, unprecedented Trump shutdown. Continued suffering from gun violence, attacks on women's health, irrational approaches to immigration, and attacks on our environmental protections.

But with each challenge we faced, there was also progress.

We came together as a community to support furloughed government employees.

We stood up for reproductive health care benefits for our veterans and fought against the Title X gag rule.

We swore-in the most diverse Congress in American history and passed landmark legislation to:

• strengthen access to democracy by ending partisan gerrymandering and combat voter suppression
• impose a higher ethical standard to government officials
• address the big money influence in our elections by requiring stricter campaign contribution disclosures
• adopt common-sense gun laws, like universal background checks

Together, we can overcome the hurdles thrown at us by the Trump administration.
