Larsen Statement on Reelection Win
EVERETT—Rick Larsen, D-Everett, issued the following statement after winning the race for Washington’s 2nd Congressional District seat. Larsen, who tonight secured his seventh term in the House of Representatives, was born and raised in the District in Arlington, and currently lives in Everett.
“This seat belongs to the voters, and I am humbled that they have entrusted me with its care for two more years,” Larsen said. “I take great pride in serving my neighbors, friends and family as the representative from the District where I was born and raised.
“My focus in Northwest Washington will not waver from looking for ways to help grow the economy, create jobs, and strengthen the foundation for long-term prosperity.
“This election must mark the end of the too-obstinate, too-ideological and too-partisan Tea Party Congress. Voters in Northwest Washington have made it clear that they want results, and those results will only come from leaders of both parties working together. As someone with a record of working across party lines to produce results, I will lead by example.
“I look forward to representing new parts of South Snohomish County that have been added to the 2nd Congressional District. The district is more diverse than ever, and I am eager to continue building relationships and learning more about how to best serve the needs of all residents of the District.
“I owe great thanks to all the volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly to bring about this victory. Their countless hours spent on the phones with voters and knocking on doors made this a truly grassroots campaign. This is a victory that we all share in.”
Larsen’s campaign made more than 43,000 contacts with voters, including doorbelling 25,259 homes and making 18,210 phone calls to voters.
